Working on referral from veterinary surgeons
In accordance with the highest standards of conduct of the professional organisations to which I belong (CAPBT, APBC, FABC and IAABC), I accept behavioural consultations only with written veterinary approval. I will keep the overseeing vet informed of my recommended behavioural modification plan, monitoring, and progress.
In addition to requesting signed approval to work with your client on their pet's behaviour, I always request a copy of the pet's medical history, because medical issues and pain, whether current or in the past, can play an important role in behaviour. Similarly, behavioural issues can impact health, especially where chronic stress or anxiety is involved.
As a vet, if you are interested to hear more about Clinical Animal Behaviour and how I can add to the services your practice offers, I'd be delighted to come and meet with you.
